Terms and conditions

These terms cover the Bible Msgs website and the Bible Msgs SMS program. By using either, you agree to them. If you subscribe by text, you also agree to the messaging terms below.

The service

Bible Msgs provides three things: a daily Bible verse, a verse chosen for a situation you describe, and a plain-language explanation of a verse. You can use all three on the web without a phone number. You can also receive and reply by SMS if you opt in.

Bible Msgs is not a church, a pastor, a counselor, or a medical or mental-health service. It is not a substitute for pastoral care or professional treatment. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988.

SMS program terms

Program name: Bible Msgs.

Description: Recurring automated texts with a daily Bible verse, plus replies when you text a concern, a verse reference, or a command.

Message frequency: About one message per day for the daily verse. Additional messages are sent when you text the service. Frequency therefore varies.

Message and data rates may apply. Your carrier’s rates are between you and the carrier. Bible Msgs does not charge a subscription fee.

Opt-in. On the website, you provide your mobile number and confirm that you want the daily verse. We then text you and ask you to reply YES before anything recurring is sent (double opt-in). You can also opt in by texting DAILY or START to the Bible Msgs number. Consent is not a condition of using the website, and it is not a condition of any purchase — there is nothing to buy.

Opt-out. Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT at any time. You will receive a confirmation, and we will send no further program messages unless you opt in again.

Help. Reply HELP for a short list of commands and care information. Customer care for the SMS program is handled by reply to that keyword.

Commands. Text a concern in your own words for a verse chosen for it; text a reference if you already have one; MORE for the meaning of the last verse we sent; DAILY to start the daily verse; STOP to cancel.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers include the major US wireless providers; delivery is not guaranteed on every network.

Privacy

How we handle phone numbers and message content is described in the Privacy notice. In short: we do not sell or share mobile numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Message and data rates may apply.

Scripture

Verses are shown in translations that may be freely used for this purpose, currently the Berean Standard Bible and the King James Version. Bible Msgs does not claim copyright in the biblical text.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to harass anyone, to probe or overload the system, or to send content that is unlawful. We may stop sending messages to a number that is being used that way.

No warranty

The service is provided as-is. Verses and explanations can be incomplete, mistimed, or wrong for your situation. Retrieval is automated. Do not rely on it as counsel, diagnosis, or a promise about your life.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top is the date they last changed. If you continue to use the SMS program after a change, the new terms apply.
