Privacy notice

This notice describes how Bible Msgs (“we”) handles information when you use the website or the SMS program. It is written for the people who text us and for the carriers that review this program.

Information we collect

• Phone number, if you subscribe or ask us to text a verse. This is how we know where to send messages and how we honor STOP.
• Send hour and time zone, so the daily verse arrives in the morning you chose.
• Message content you type on the web or send by text — a concern, a command such as MORE or HELP, or a verse reference.
• Technical records needed to operate the service: timestamps, verse references we sent you, and whether a message was delivered.

We do not create accounts, collect passwords, or use advertising cookies.

How we use it

We use this information to:

• send the daily verse at the hour you chose;
• choose a passage for a concern you describe, and explain verses you ask about;
• reply to commands (YES, STOP, HELP, MORE, DAILY);
• improve retrieval quality after the fact, from de-identified records.

SMS program

If you opt in, Bible Msgs sends recurring automated text messages. You should expect about one message per day for the daily verse, plus additional messages when you text the service (for example a verse for a concern, or a reply to HELP or MORE). Conversational days can therefore exceed one message.

Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of using the website. Reply STOP to cancel. Reply HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We do not share mobile numbers for marketing

We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers are used only to deliver the Bible Msgs messages you requested and to process opt-out.

We do use Twilio as our text-message carrier. Twilio processes numbers and message bodies solely to deliver and receive those texts, under its own terms. That is a service provider relationship, not a sale of your number.

How long we keep it

The text of a concern is kept for 90 days, then deleted. Derived records — detected topics, verse references, and whether you were sent a message — may be kept longer so we can measure whether retrieval is doing harm. Phone numbers stay on file while you are subscribed, and after STOP as needed to honor the opt-out and avoid messaging you again.

Your choices

• Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe. You will receive a confirmation, and no further program messages.
• Reply HELP for a short command list and care information.
• You can use the website without providing a phone number. The daily verse, a verse for a concern, and an explanation are all available there.

Children

The SMS program is intended for people 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect phone numbers from children.

Crisis information

If a message appears to describe self-harm, suicidal thoughts, or abuse, we lead with crisis resources (in the US, 988) rather than a verse. Bible Msgs is not emergency services and does not monitor messages in real time for safety.

Changes

If this notice changes in a way that affects how we handle phone numbers or messages, we will update the date above. Continued use of the SMS program after that date is consent to the revised notice.
